My Top Five Sources of News and Informations - Blog Post #1

With the advancement of technology, online news outlets have become a convenient source to learn more about what is going on in the world. Online news has become an essential source of information, allowing its users to receive information at a faster delivery rate, while also giving users the opportunity to search for key words rather than reading the entire article. Below you can find my top five sources of news:

#1 Instagram

While I can not say I am proud of it, Instagram is one of the most used apps on my phone. Instagram allows me to follow a variety of different accounts that produce real-time updates with the click of a button. Whether it be my local city police department, or a nation-wide news network, this app provides an accessible and engaging outlook to receive information. The platform's use of stories, posts, reels, and highlights allow for a quick read of information that keeps its users not only updates but involved. I can scroll through Instagram and see a variety of posts: recipes, pop-culture updates, memes, or even a new statement from a government official.

#2 Tik Tok

Tik Tok is a social media platform that allows users to post content, swipe through posts, and share videos. Tik Tok was a very useful platform during the 2024 presidential election as nominees would post their viewpoint and opinions on certain topics to keep the younger demographic engaged and informed. The app's algorithm tailors content to my interests, allowing me to discover news stories that are relevant and engaging. Their interactive features, such as comments, live streams, and messaging through the app, allow me to participate in real-time discussions.

#3 Vanity Fair

I use Vanity Fair as a news outlet because it offers a wide variety of celebrity gossip, reviews of up and coming beauty products, and fashion trends. The site provides exclusive interviews and exclusive content to keep me up to date on what is going on. As a fashion and beauty obsessed girl, VF's coverage of red carpet events, style breakdowns, and beauty tips keep me engaged. Additionally, it offers commentary on not only fashion, but also cultural trends and societal issues helping me stay informed in educated on what is going on outside the beauty world. Vanity Fair is the perfect blend of fashion and pop culture with an hint of creative writing, making it the perfect source for entertainment and knowledge.

#4 Fox News

My fourth most used news source is Fox News. I tend to lean right towards political issues, and its coverage often aligns with my views and values. Growing up, Fox News was the channel that was always on in my house, so its familiar and has become my go-to source for staying informed on all things politics. I appreciate that Fox provides a conservative perspective on current events, however, I need to keep in mind that it can be biased.

#5 Apple News

I use Apple News because it conveniently delivers information through notifications about breaking stories, which can catching my attention and prompt me to click the header for more information. While it is not my main source for news, this app offers a quick way to stay updates on topics that might interest me without having to actively search for them. The personalized feed allows me to browse through articles based on my preferences, making it easier to discover news I might not have come across otherwise. I love the variety of sources and stories Apple news offers. While I rely on other platforms more, it is a helpful tool for getting quick updates.
